A few weeks back, the rare cross-breed of comics/Broadway geeks got the lowdown on "Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark" -- the upcoming Spider-Man Broadway musical directed by Tony Award-winner Julie Taymor ("The Lion King") and featuring music composed by Bono and The Edge. (Not surprisingly, it's rumored to be the most expensive production ever to hit NYC's Great White Way.)

MTV News caught up one of the production's stars, Evan Rachel Wood, during this year's Oscars to hear what she had to say about Webhead's Broadway debut.

"We did a small little run-through for Marvel and got their approval," said Wood. "Rehearsals are starting in the fall. It's going to be great."

As mentioned, "Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark" has been thrust into the spotlight as of late, with a targeted debut of February 18, 2010 at Broadway’s Hilton Theatre. And while Wood points out that the show is still looking for its titular hero ("We don't have a Spider-Man yet, we just have a Mary Jane."), she's quick to point out that nay-saying fans should expect a spectacle unlike any seen before in legitimate theatre.

"[It's going to be] very visual, new flying technology, the songs are incredible," the actress gushes. "We're jumping off of buildings, the whole thing."

Do you think Spider-Man belongs on Broadway, or do you prefer him in the comics and feature films? Let's hear it in the comments.
